EU-Canada SummitIn October 2008 on the occasion of the EU-Canada summit in Quebec, a concrete and comprehensive economic agreement was reached, which will go beyond an FTA agreement. At the last summit in June 2007 in Berlin it was already agreed to conduct a study, which is now available here and was presented in Quebec City. It explains the perspective of the economic relations between the two partners.
Unfortunately, no agreement could be reached about the idea to have an ambitious post-Kyoto protocol agreement. Unfortunately, also no agreement was reached about the clear reductions in CO2 emissions until 2020. The Canadian goals are much less ambitious than the European one.
